Finding Me

Hey you!
What were you expecting to see here? Another poem?, oh I'm sorry but it is time out. Today I just feel like sharing something with my WT family . I know most of you who read my poems sort of envy my writing and the like. You likely think I've got this whole strong purpose driven mood in front of me.
Truth is, for a very long time I've actually been struggling with myself. I've thought of several careers such as horticulture, painting , catering ,makeup artistry and even tailoring to mention a few (yes I said A FEW, its weird but I've been into a lot of things ). Nothing has really worked for me.
However, the good news is that I have finally found my dream in my "sokoto"(Yoruba word for pants/trousers) after traveling to Sokoto . So close yet so far huh?
I know some people may be disappointed with this post because they actually thought I had found my dream much earlier. Truth is, writing has only just become my dream now. All along it was a hobby. Now, critical thinking has made me realise that all I need to make my hobby my future career is nothing but dedication and hardwork.
So there you have it guys, I've officially decided to be a writer (fiction majorly because my imaginations are soo wild). From today, I baptise myself into the Writers Nation. So don't call me Winnietalker anymore , add respect for real mehn (in Francis Odega's voice) and call me Honourable Fiction Writer Winnietalker (okay that's a joke).
This is a late post , its 9:50 pm on a Saturday night so go to bed and prepare for the new week. But hey don't forget to share this post on your social pages.
Bon Nuit.

The Heartbroken Heartbreaker

It took me how long to write this? Probably a million years! This piece is long overdue! Ladies and gentlemen, especially ladies, please do not feel particularly attacked by this piece. I am trying very hard to be honest. Last night, I thought to myself what my response would be if people ever asked me if I've been heartbroken and before I knew it, I had a long speech about how unserious men can be and how women suffer as a result of this. Then it occurred to me that, in the real sense of things, I have never had my heart broken by anybody. Please, please, please, I am not forming wonder woman or holy than thou, it is the simple truth! I came to this realization because, I noticed that if there was ever a time that I felt terrible emotionally it was because of my own expectations and unrealistic guesses. I really don't like to write things about love and relationship and stuff because it gives my readers too much opportunity to get into my head and sometimes, imagine things ...

To Copy or Not?

*Singing 9ice's 'photocopy no easy, you can never be like me' * Actually, photocopy is easy, and very cheap sef. In Ibadan you can photocopy a page for #2 if you know the right places. Anyway, I'm not here to talk about literal photocopy today but something metaphorical. First, I apologize for being AWOL, it wasn't deliberate. Now, to today's issue. Do you think it's a bad thing to copy people around you? In my opinion, it's not advisable even though it is not totally bad. The reason is simple. It is not bad to want to copy someone if you think that person is a better version of you. However, I think it's wrong to copy a person's every move. In my opinion, you both can be similar but yet different! To illustrate, I will use cake and wine. Cake and wine are similar because they are both edibles, but they are also different. The longer wine stays on the shelf, the better it gets! However, cake is best served hot I think. That is why people call...

Friendly Enemies

Today,I will be focusing on five types of friends that we need to beware of.These are those who claim to be friends but are actually enemies. 1. ALWAYS ASKING NEVER GIVING.  Some friends have the habit of always asking for favours but when called upon for help, they always have the perfect excuse as to why they cannot help. Such people subtly send us the message that they are only hanging around us because of what they are benefitting from us. The moment you cannot help them, they leave! So, you need to let go.  2. ALWAYS RECEIVING NEVER APPRECIATING. When a friend never shows appreciation for gifts and favours, you need to be careful. It could be that the friend does not value you and your sacrifices. 3. ALWAYS COMPLAINING NEVER ENCOURAGING.  Do you have friends who do nothing but complain about how bad things always are? You need to beware. People who constantly complain and never encourage you are dangerous. They dampen your spirit, bring you down and fail to ...
