Tales by Internet :Amina

Amina felt so warm in Adamu's arms and did not want him to let go of her but she knew that he soon would. The plans had already been made, her in-laws would come the day after tomorrow to take her to her husband's house. She was not sure if what she felt was anger or disappointment. Disappointment that her father had given her in marriage in exchange for a farmland. She was angry too that Adamu had not put up a fight for her. They had been lovers since their mid-teens and he had fought quite a number of boys in the village who dared come close to his Amina.
Amina was the village beauty with the curves of a goddess and fierce eyes that only calmed down at the sight of her lover Adamu. Nobody could have imagined that she would end up the wife of a blind man who was older than her father and already had two wives but here it was, all happening so fast. Everybody was surprised and some were happy about it especially Hanatu who had always had her eyes on Adamu. Of course a few others who had tried to marry Amina but were rejected were happy.
As they both left for their homes that night, Adamu and Amina were unhappy. Adamu felt crippled because he could not fight for the woman he loved, his father had warned him of the consequences of fighting one of the richest men in the village. Amina on the other hand was filled with a strange energy.
She had come up with a plan that would save her. All she needed was to wait till her wedding day to execute her plan. As she walked home, she surprised a few passers-by by the way she was smiling. Everybody knew she dreaded her future husband so, what could have made her happy? As she entered the hut, she smiled at her parents and went to her bed space. She lay down and fell asleep smiling. Only her mother Fati was worried for she knew how devilish Amina could be. As she lay down on her bed that night, Fati wondered if Amina had planned to elope with Adamu but quickly dismissed the thought. Whatever it was, she would find out tomorrow.
(To be continued).

The Heartbroken Heartbreaker

It took me how long to write this? Probably a million years! This piece is long overdue! Ladies and gentlemen, especially ladies, please do not feel particularly attacked by this piece. I am trying very hard to be honest. Last night, I thought to myself what my response would be if people ever asked me if I've been heartbroken and before I knew it, I had a long speech about how unserious men can be and how women suffer as a result of this. Then it occurred to me that, in the real sense of things, I have never had my heart broken by anybody. Please, please, please, I am not forming wonder woman or holy than thou, it is the simple truth! I came to this realization because, I noticed that if there was ever a time that I felt terrible emotionally it was because of my own expectations and unrealistic guesses. I really don't like to write things about love and relationship and stuff because it gives my readers too much opportunity to get into my head and sometimes, imagine things ...

To Copy or Not?

*Singing 9ice's 'photocopy no easy, you can never be like me' * Actually, photocopy is easy, and very cheap sef. In Ibadan you can photocopy a page for #2 if you know the right places. Anyway, I'm not here to talk about literal photocopy today but something metaphorical. First, I apologize for being AWOL, it wasn't deliberate. Now, to today's issue. Do you think it's a bad thing to copy people around you? In my opinion, it's not advisable even though it is not totally bad. The reason is simple. It is not bad to want to copy someone if you think that person is a better version of you. However, I think it's wrong to copy a person's every move. In my opinion, you both can be similar but yet different! To illustrate, I will use cake and wine. Cake and wine are similar because they are both edibles, but they are also different. The longer wine stays on the shelf, the better it gets! However, cake is best served hot I think. That is why people call...

Friendly Enemies

Today,I will be focusing on five types of friends that we need to beware of.These are those who claim to be friends but are actually enemies. 1. ALWAYS ASKING NEVER GIVING.  Some friends have the habit of always asking for favours but when called upon for help, they always have the perfect excuse as to why they cannot help. Such people subtly send us the message that they are only hanging around us because of what they are benefitting from us. The moment you cannot help them, they leave! So, you need to let go.  2. ALWAYS RECEIVING NEVER APPRECIATING. When a friend never shows appreciation for gifts and favours, you need to be careful. It could be that the friend does not value you and your sacrifices. 3. ALWAYS COMPLAINING NEVER ENCOURAGING.  Do you have friends who do nothing but complain about how bad things always are? You need to beware. People who constantly complain and never encourage you are dangerous. They dampen your spirit, bring you down and fail to ...
